Eighteen years of IntroTeach — still managed by teachers, for teachers

This month IntroTeach turns eighteen. If our agency were a pupil, it would be finishing school this summer — old enough to vote, drive, and reflect on how it got here.

Andrew Bury founded IntroTeach/Cyfle Dysgu in July 2007 with a simple conviction: supply teaching works better when the people arranging it have actually taught. Eighteen years later that principle hasn’t moved an inch. Every consultant on our team is a former teacher or school leader; between us we’ve held headships, advised local authorities and written national wellbeing programmes.

What has changed is the scale: from a handful of Carmarthenshire schools to all 22 local authorities in Wales, thousands of placements, a training arm whose wellbeing courses are used by headteachers across the country — and now an app that puts availability, offers and bookings in every teacher’s pocket.

Thank you to every school that has trusted us with a class, and every teacher who has trusted us with a career. Here’s to the next eighteen.
