Last week, the team at IntroTeach had the wonderful opportunity to visit Cardiff Metropolitan University. Our mission was to engage in meaningful discussions about teacher wellbeing and to assess the current state of teaching in Wales. As an agency managed by teachers for teachers, we believe it’s vital to stay connected with educational institutions and address the pressing issues faced by educators today.
During our visit, we met with aspiring teachers and seasoned educators, sharing insights and experiences that highlighted the importance of mental health and support within the teaching profession. The conversations revolved around the challenges teachers encounter, such as workload pressures and the impact of changing educational policies. It became clear that while teaching can be incredibly rewarding, it can also take a toll on teachers’ wellbeing.
We explored various strategies to enhance teacher wellbeing, including the importance of professional development, peer support, and open communication within schools. Many attendees expressed their desire for more resources and training focused specifically on mental health, which is crucial for sustaining a healthy work-life balance.
Furthermore, we discussed the state of teaching in Wales today. With ongoing changes in curriculum and assessment, teachers are at the forefront of educational innovation. However, these changes can lead to uncertainty and stress. Our conversations highlighted the need for continuous support and understanding from both educational leaders and policymakers.
At IntroTeach, we are committed to championing teacher wellbeing. We believe that when teachers feel supported, they can provide the best possible education for their students. Our visit to Cardiff MET reinforced our dedication to fostering a positive teaching environment and advocating for the needs of educators across Wales.
We are excited to continue these conversations and collaborate with local institutions to create a supportive network for teachers, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated in their vital roles.
